Prudence Desjardin is a privileged woman who earns her living as a tavern keeper in Vermont. Her parents were both slaves but their children were not born as slaves. Her parents reside in the Nova Scotia, an older sister has settled in New Brunswick while a younger brother last known whereabouts were Prince Edwards Islands.
She thinks life is dull and boring and is often underestimated, taken for granted and overlooked. Doesn’t really want too marry, unless she has her say. Either a White man or a free black man. One that would be able to give her a better life than what she has.
The inspiration of Prudence came from a woman who disguised herself as a male soldierto fight in the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont. Again, I didn’t want to copy that woman’s fate 100%.
